What is a Course Folder?

For ABET accreditation of an academic program, each instructor has to maintain a course folder. The course folder has the following data:

1) Course instructor information for students: Name, Office Room Number, Phone, Office hours, Class schedule, Course web page URL, etc

2) Course Information: Course name, Number of students, Number of assessments planned, Academic year, Semester, Class section(s)

3) Course Syllabus in a format acceptable to ABET: Course objectives, Course content, CLOs, SOs, CLO-SO map, Textbook, Prerequisites, Course coordinator, Syllabus update date

4) Students List: Names of students enrolled, Students ID

5) Course Teaching Plan: Lecture/Lab /Contact hours required for each Course Topic, Instruction Methods to be used, Assessment Methods to be used, Score/Marks distribution planned for various types of assessments, SO assessment plan

6) Assessment Design: Specify for each assessment: Contribution of the assessment to final grade, Assessment Name. For each question or questions set (QS) with similar properties, specify allocated points/marks/score, CLO being assessed, SO being assessed, Bloom's Level of the QS.

7) For each student, score earned  for each QS, Curve-up options used.

8) CLO satisfaction analysis

9) SO satisfaction analysis

10) Students Survey results

11) Faculty Survey results

12) Student Work Samples (Three samples from each assessment)

CLOSO (www.smart-accredit.com) automates the process of producing the course folders. It produces the course folders containing all items listed above. It prints out complete course folders with students' work samples. It saves the instructor's time drastically.
